HAPPY 2019 guys!!!
Yes, I know we’ve been in 2019 for over a week now, but still, I hope you are having a great start to the year.
So I’ve been on holiday from work since December 14th, 2018 and now I’m less than a week away from resuming work for this year. I really though a month away from work meant a lot of rest, but wow, time has flown by so fast and I can’t believe I’m here already. Reality awaits.
All that aside, I’m generally excited for this year. I just feel like things are actually starting to fall into place for me, and I (sort of) know which direction to go in this year. The past year has left me with some valuable lessons, which I intend to carry with me this year.
1. MIND YOUR BUSINESS
It’s so easy to get consumed in things that don’t concern you… or rather be concerned with things that shouldn’t even slightly bother you. But as human beings, we always seem to want to be “in the loop”, even when its non of our business. This causes unnecessary stress guys. Trust me, I know. So this year, I’m definitely only going to mind things that concern me. I need to protect my peace of mind. I don’t need to know of or be a part of everything.
2. STOP WORRYING
I’ve always been one of those people that worry about any and everything. And that has gotten me nowhere. So this is something that has to stop. I recently read somewhere that “if you worry about something that hasn’t happened yet, you are basically putting yourself through it twice“. So I’m not doing that to myself anymore. I really believe things workout as they are supposed to, and I can’t focus on what could be or could have been. I should rather enjoy life in the moment, and know that God knows the plans He has for me.
3. LIVE YOUR LIFE FOR YOU
Many of us find ourselves living mediocre lives because it’s comfortable. Usually, going after your dreams is hard, and it’s just easier to live a life that seems OK. A life probably lived to please someone other than yourself… This year I want to make myself priority when it comes to life decisions. I want to live for myself. Put myself first. Be my own priority, no questions asked. No one can live your life for you, so you have to make your life about you and make every day the best time of your life.
And that’s that. Obviously there are more lessons I will carry with me, but these three seem to stand out for me most. Have you made any new years resolutions? If so, share!
Thanks for reading.
