So this past weekend, my friend and I decided to go experience the much talked about Galileo Open Air Cinema in Cape Town. I’ve seen pictures and videos all over social media and I’ve always wanted to go… So when my friend said lets d it, I was super excited.
So when we originally booked, the movie was to be screened at the Steenberg Farm but due to these cape winds, was screened at the Kirstenbosch Gardens in Newlands, which was still beautiful.
The scenery, the set-up, the vibes… all of it was amazing. I definitely have to find time to come explore the gardens at some point. All so new to me because I’ve actually done anything like this, and I’m s glad I did, because I’m sure it will become a regular activity for me.
The pricing of the tickets is actually really affordable, especially considering what a cool outdoor experience this is… and booking is also very simple (we booked and paid online, via their site: https://thegalileo.co.za/). My friend and I booked the Warm & Comfy tickets for R 130.00, which comes with a back rest and a blanket (I’m so happy we booked thee because the cold winds really started coming through as the sun set)
You can opt to bring your own snacks, or buy some before the movie starts at the various food stalls they have. The had Pizza, Tacos, Quesedillas, Nachos, Popcorn, candy, soft drinks and alcoholic drinks (whatever you want, they have). I obviously gravitated towards the Mexican food (I love love Mexican food) and got a Chicken Quesedilla… And a glass of wine, of course.
It was definitely a Friday night well spent.
Have you ever been to an Open Air Cinema or had a similar experience? Let me know.
Thanks for reading! xx
